If all goes according to plan, Longview will be singing the blues for years to come, making the T-Bone Walker Blues Festival the crown jewel of city events.
“We’re shooting for this to be Longview’s biggest draw, maybe not this year, but in years to come,” said Executive Director Rick Howell. Board members hope the festival has a permanent home in Longview.

Residents may not quite grasp it yet, but Longview has pulled off a major coup landing the T-Bone Walker Blues Festival, which is moving this year from Linden. And the festival hit the jackpot with Longview, too. This is a match made in blues heaven.
The music festival has gained a national reputation for bringing together great acts and drawing good crowds. But while it’s successful, the festival has not done as well as it might because, frankly, Linden is not the easiest place to get to, especially by air. And once fans have arrived, there’s not much else there...
T-Bone Walker Blues Festival Picks Longview As New Home

The T-Bone Walker Blues Festival will move from Linden to Longview this September, its board decided Thursday.
“Probably 25 percent of the support of the festival over the past few years has come from Longview, so you have had a quarter of the financial support and volunteer support,” said board member Ken Chinn. “You had a team already in place in Longview that the other cities didn’t have.”

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - For the past 8 years, the city of Linden has hosted the T-Bone Walker Blues Festival. This year that all changes, the festival will make its new home in Longview.
The Festival brings Blues guitarists into East Texas for a 2-day Festival. This year the Blues Festival is slatted for September 12th and 13th at the Maude Cobb Convention Center.
The Festival's Board met via conference call Thursday night to vote on which city would be best. Longview beat out Dallas, and Fort Worth.

Frederic and Judith Campana traveled from Switzerland to attend the T-Bone Walker Blues Fest. While in Linden, they went a step further and volunteered to serve artists and other VIPs in attendance at the festival. Frederic said it is “just natural to volunteer.” Frederic and his wife, who speaks no English, are huge fans of the blues. He said in Europe T-Bone Walker is well-recognized along with many other blues performers.

LINDEN — The T-Bone Walker Blues Festival can be found deep in the piney woods, like the soul of blues itself, just outside the quiet town of Linden, Texas. This year it was held over two days in mid-June and showcased over twenty blues performers, some who are just starting out, some who are old-time legends, all blazing as bright on stage as the summer sun on our backs in the early afternoon.

Lil' Ed and The Blues Imperials rocked the house as they closed the show on the Music City Texas Theater stage Friday night at the 7th annual T-Bone Walker Blues Fest in Linden. The audience was cheering and clapping as they entertained the crowd. Lil' Ed strutted off the stage and into the audience as the band played their last song to close the show.

The sixth annual festival brings regional acts, national acts and a top overseas blues musician to the two stages at Music City Texas Theater. The festival honors Linden native son and electric blues pioneer Aaron Thibeaux “TBone” Walker, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
